How statutory redundancy pay works

You need at least 2 full years' service. You get half a week's pay for each full year you were under 22, one week's pay for each year aged 22 to 40, and one and a half weeks' pay for each year aged 41 or older. Up to 20 years count, and weekly pay is capped at £751 (from 6 April 2026), so the maximum is £22,530.

Your employer may offer more under your contract. Redundancy pay up to £30,000 is usually tax-free. Notice pay and holiday pay are separate.

Redundancy Pay Calculator FAQs: who is it for?

My employer says I'm at risk of redundancy. What am I owed?

Enter your age, years of service and weekly pay to see your minimum statutory redundancy pay. You'll know straight away whether an offer is fair or just the legal minimum.

I'm comparing a voluntary redundancy offer. Is it worth taking?
