SSP from 6 April 2026
Statutory Sick Pay is £123.25 a week or 80% of your average weekly earnings, whichever is lower. It's now paid from your first day of sickness (there are no longer 3 unpaid waiting days) and there's no minimum earnings limit. It's paid for up to 28 weeks.
The daily rate is the weekly rate divided by your qualifying days (usually the days you normally work). Your employer may pay more under its own sick pay scheme. Average earnings usually cover the 8 weeks before you went off sick.
